京都 2005.04.03 () - 都をどり and ひろ

Got up pretty late, but in time for a shower. Went right out and saw 都をどり, which was indeed very pretty. Then I wandered a bit, and had lunch at イノダコーヒー, which has a good reputation. It was ok, but not spectacular.

Went back to the guesthouse, did laundry, and then went out with ひろ. The place was called じゅうじゅう or such, after the sound that the food on the hot plate makes. The place is on or near 寺町... The food gets grilled up on these hot plates by the cooks, who then bring it out to your table. Every table also has a hot plate built in, and the food all gets placed on that. Then everyone dishes up what they want.

It was a very awesome time. Good food and good 1/2 english, 1/2 日本語 conversation. ひろ's friends showed up as well: 森田, the ``older man from Jupiter'', and two women who's names I didn't catch. It was all wonderful fun. I learned some new words and phrases:

And probably more I've since forgotten.

Very awesome. I had hoped to take ひろ out to しんきろう to return the favor, but unfortunately that didn't come to pass.
