This was しゅうがくいん day. There was a sign noting the cafe and internet would be closing at 6:30 -- due to a soccer game, I later found out. The 日本人 seem to get completely in to their sports.
I took a private subway and train to the しゅうがくいん area. Based on the fare chart, I paid 390円 up front. At the transfer point, there was no way to switch lines without going through the automatic tills. I'd never done anything but exact fare before, so I asked the attendant (しゅうがくいん?), and he waved me through... but it ate my ticket and left me no transfer... miscommunication. Buy your tickets seperately I guess! (I've since learned that there's a way to punch up a transfer ticket, but that was definitely beyond my capabilities).
I continued on in the hope that the train was accessable from the other side of the tills, even though that would leave me with no ticket at arrival. But no, you go up to the street level and there's a seperate station for the train. I went to the train attendants and managed to explain my situation, and a station attendant escorted me back to the subway, talked to that attendant, retrieved my 390円 ticket from the automatic till, exchanged it for my spare 200円, took me back up to his station, and bought my しゅうがくいん ticket. Wow.
I had some time before しゅうがくいん, so I wanderd a bit and went to しせんどう, but didn't go in. Then I went to 圓光寺, which I did go in -- it has a very pretty garden area. And heated toilet seats, bonus! ...
After that, I had to hurry to make it to しゅうがくいん on time. They actually checked my passport, unlike the ごしょ. Nice place; it's a garden divided into three areas, and largely based around some ponds. Its location on the mountainside makes for great views of the surrounding area, as well. After that I went to 赤山ぜんいん, back by a shrine, and then to the station. This time I did the tickets right.
I got back to the guesthouse in time to use the internet, but not the cafe. I looked up some アニメ store locations online, and had cheese, crackers, and apple for dinner again. After eating, I watched the soccer game in the lounge, and then went to bed; nothing too exciting. I forgot to call Lara, oops.
